Ben W. Owens Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Ben Walker Owens retired farmer and resident of Waxahachie since 1924 died Wednesday afternoon in Waxahachie Sanitarium.
Mr. Owens, born in Nashville, Arkansas December 25, 1882, had farmed in Ellis County for many years in the Red Oak, Reagor Springs and Sterrett communities. He was preceded in death by his first wife and a son, Custer Owens.
In 1949, he married Mrs. May Holley, who survives, and he is also survived by six sons: Foy Owens, Waxahachie; L. T. Owens, Cheryl, California; Calvin Owens, Nettleton, Arkansas; Jim Owens, Memphis, Tennessee; Garner Owens, Ennis; and B. W. Owens, Waxahachie; four daughters: Mrs. Roy Rogers, Waxahachie; Mrs. D. W. Kelly, Waxahachie; Mrs. Mary Bolton, Alabama; and Mrs. J. T. Sandford, Brownsville, Tennessee.
Also surviving are four brothers, two sisters, six step-children, twenty-two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Farley Street Baptist Church with Rev. L. H. Raney officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Funeral arrangements are Saxon-Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home.
