Ben D. Willis Dies At Athens

ATHENS (Sp.) -- Ben D. Willis, 68, who lived in Dallas 54 years before moving to Athens after he retired in 1966, died at his home here Monday.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Athens. Burial will be in the Athens City Cemetery.

Willis was a native of Tyler. His family moved to Dallas in 1912 and he later worked for the Magnolia Oil Co. 13 years and for Lone Star Gas 36 years.

He had been a Baptist deacon 50 years and was a member of the Athens Kiwanis Club.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Ben E. Willis and Gerald E. Willis, both of Dallas, and John L. Bennett of San Antonio; a daughter, Mrs. K. E. Wardell of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Heigert and Mrs. Ed Chamberlain, both of Dallas, and six grandchildren.
