Nacogdoches Officer, Bennett Spradley, Buried

NACOGDOCHES, Texas, Dec. 6. -- Funeral services were held here Sunday for Bennett Spradley, 58, city policeman shot to death Thursday.

Spradley was shot in the stomach with a load of buckshot when he attempted to investigate a reported disturbance at a used-clothing store just off Main Street following a Christmas parade. Roy B. Wilson, 68, proprietor of the store, is free under a $10,000 bond and is facing a murder charge as a result of the shooting.

Surviving Spradley are his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Charles De Vault, Miami, Fla.

Members of the Nacogdoches police force, headed by Chief Tom Drewry, served as pallbearers.
