Bennie Currie McCall Ashworth

Services for Bennie Currie McCall Ashworth, 89, of Diboll, were held Monday, April 12, 2004 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ashworth was born Feb.8, 1915, in Homer, Angelina County, to the late James Duncan and Virginia Perkins McCall. She had lived in Burke and Lufkin most of her life. Mrs. Ashworth was a 1935 graduate of Lufkin High School. She loved to read and travel. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She died Friday, April 9, 2004 at Trinity Mission of Diboll.

Survivors: daughter, Joan Oaks of Freeport; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Nick and Alice Ashworth of Diboll, Kenneth and Ann Ashworth of Ireland, James Ashworth, Jr. of Crockett; sister, Queen Stringer of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randolph and Janie McCall of Cleveland, Tenn., David and Louise McCall of Orangeburg, SC; sisters-in-law, Lucille Ashworth, Belma Thomason and Ann Ashworth of Texas city; seven grandchildren, Angie Ashworth of Houston, Trisha Ashworth of Ireland, Tammy Flowers and husband Joe of Diboll, Bobbie Kent and husband Jay of Lufkin, James ``Bud'' Oaks of Freeport, Brian Ashworth and wife Karen of Ireland, Barry Ashworth and wife, Annette of Ireland; seven great-grandchildren, Sara and Ann Flowers of Diboll, Elisa, Jasmine, Casey, Kevin and Crystal Ashworth of Ireland; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, the residents and staff at Trinity Mission of Diboll.

Mrs. Ashworth was preceded in death by her husband, James Hollis Ashworth, in April 1983.
