Bennie J. Evans Sr.

MONROE - Services for Bennie J. Evans Sr., 60, of Monroe, and native of Mangham, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 1992, in the North Monroe Baptist Church, 210 Hideaway Road, Monroe, with Dr. Steven Tyler officiating. The eulogy will be offered by Herschel Sullivan.

Burial followed in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Evans died Sunday, November 22, 1992, in the St. Francis Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

A prominent businessman, Mr. Evans was founder and president of the Evans Oil Company.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge No. 24 F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and a Shriner in the barak Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Jo Duchesne Evans of Monroe; a son, Bennie J. Evans, Jr. of Monroe; daughter, Mrs. Suzonne Evans Manning of Monroe; two brothers, James L. Evans and Claude E. Evans, both of Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Temple Evans of Monroe; and four grandchildren, Lindsey, Jared and Hallie Evans and Whitney Manning.

Pallbearers were Oscar Robinson, Jerry York, Doug Cookston, James Drummond, Ronald Moore and Jerry Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were Glenn McGuffee, Mike James, Dr. Raymond Collier, Bill Floyd, Charles Platt, Hershel Sullivan, all men of the CITGO Retail Stores and employees of the Evans Oil Company.

The family request that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, La., 71103.
