Graveside services will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Park for Bennie Lee Kennedy, 83, of Shreveport, LA on Monday, January 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Davis.Visitation will be at Centuries Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Kennedy entered into rest on Friday, January 18, 2002 at Doctors Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in North Caddo Parish, LA and lived in Shreveport for most of his life. He was a retired pipefitter and member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union No. 141. He served his country during WWII as a crew chief for the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed in England. Mr. Kennedy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and go camping.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robin Kennedy.
He is survived by his loving wife for 30 years, Mattie H. Kennedy; two sons, Jerry L. Kennedy and wife, Linda of Arlington, TX and Harvey L. Kennedy of Shreveport, LA; one step-daughter, Mickey Watts and husband, Jack of Columbia, MS; one sister, Syble Barr; and one brother, Harold Kennedy and wife, Joyce all of Vivian, LA; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mr. Kennedy's nursing assistants Marie Davis, Laura Demming and Ruby Williams for their love and care.
