Bernice Emmons Carroll
June 12, 1935 - April 10, 2019

Funeral services for Bernice Emmons Carroll, 83, of Lufkin will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mrs. Carroll was born June 12, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Minnie (Avery) and Eugene Emmons, and died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at The Joseph House.

Mrs. Carroll had resided in Lufkin for 75 years. She worked for Browder's, Blackstock's, Lorente's and The Clothes Rack for a combined 22 years and was also a Regional Salesperson for Mary Kay. She was compassionate and caring and had a great love for her family. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed hunting well into her 70's. Mrs. Carroll was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Rhonda Carroll of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ron Moors of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Tammy Carroll of South Carolina; grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Brad Bowers, Jason and Chinwe Carroll, Chris and Natalie Carroll, Michelle and Andrew Hunt, and Jacob Carroll; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Weston and Cayden Carroll, Caleb, Joshua and Samantha Carroll, Ryan and Lauren Bowers, Noah and Josie Hunt; sister, Mattie Lou Modisette of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Donald James Carroll in 2012; son, Johnny Carroll; twin brother, Vernice Emmons; sister, Marie Petty; and brother, Charles Emmons.

Pallbearers will be Brad Bowers, Andrew Hunt, Ryan Bowers, Jason Carroll, Chris Carroll, and Weston Carroll.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Carroll.

The family extends special thanks to the staffs of The Joseph House, Neches House, and Affinity Hospice for their special care.
