Bertha Barron Girlinghouse

Bertha Barron Girlinghouse, 90, of Sulphur, and formerly of Nebo, died Monday, June 23, 1997, in Sulphur.

A native of Barron, Mrs. Girlinghouse lived most of her life at Nebo. She moved to Sulphur area 10 years ago. She was a past member of Nebo Baptist Church and had been a member of Houston River Baptist Church for the past 10 years where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiating.

Burial followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Sulphur- Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Survivors include four sons, Matthew J. Girlinghouse of Orange, Texas, Melvin Girlinghouse of Sulphur, Johnny C. Girlinghouse of Vinton and Ralph Girlinghouse of Bryan, Texas; four daughters, Elsie M. Young of Bridge City, Texas, Bernice Gibson and Mary Carrier, both of Sulphur, and Jo Ann Putman of Florence, Ala.; one brother, Frank Barron of Pollock, 26 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
