Mrs. Bertha Emmons
Funeral services for Bertha Mae Emmons, 97, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 26, 1993, from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Forest. Rev. Larry Laird and Rev. Clifton Thornton officiated. Interment was made in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Emmons passed away on Sunday, October 24, 1993, at the Conva-Rest Nursing Home in Newton following a sudden illness. A native of Newton County, she lived in Pine Ridge Community. She was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Newton County.
Survivors include two sons, Charles M. Evans Albuquerque, NM and Jerry L. Evans of Forest; three daughters, Mrs. Penny M. Gill of Jackson, Mrs. Iris L. Mabry of Lake, and Mrs. Billie O'Bannon of Forest; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons, George David Mabry, Mitchell Randall Mabry, Charles Wayne Gill, Jerry Lewis Evans, Jr., Leslie Neil Evans, Jonathan Wesley Mabry, and Dr. Raymond L. Montgomery.
Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrangements.
