BERTHA JOHNSON

Funeral services were held Friday, June 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty for Bertha Whittington Johnson, 89, of Liberty. Rev. Sherman Adams and Rev. Ernest Whittington officiated. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Troy Ginn, Brent Robinson, Russell Cruise, Joey Johnson and grandsons-in-law, Casey Harden and Brett Bailey.

Ms Johnson passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at her daughter's home in Liberty.

Born November 22, 1920, Ms Johnson was the daughter of Louis and Nancy Whittington, both deceased.

Ms Johnson was a homemaker and a caregiver. She loved the Lord and her family. She was known for her gardening skills and her gift for growing beautiful flowers anywhere.

Ms Johnson was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to her parents, Ms Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Johnson; one daughter, Willean Johnson Ginn; one grandson, Ervin Lilly; and five brothers, Ray, T.J., Jimmy, Jewel Lee and Bobby Whittington.

Ms Johnson is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Nellie and Fred Lilly of Slaughter, Louisiana, Betty and Lionel Humphreys and Bertha and William Robinson, all of Baton Rouge, Effie and Elgin Caston of Ethel, Louisiana, and Dot and Mike Bridwell of Liberty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Debbie Johnson and Thomas ``Tee'' and Judy Johnson, all of Liberty; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Betty Whittington of Liberty.
