Bertis E. “Bert” Rayburn
Rayburn, Bertis E. “Bert” A former employee of Illinois Central Railroad with 32 years of service and a retired employee of ExxonMobil plastics plant with 15 years of service, he died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at his home in Baker. He was 76 and a native of Mount Olive, Miss. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Visiting was at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Religious service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Tom Simmons. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruby H. Rayburn of Baker; daughter and son-in-law, Emma and James Squiers of Zachary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Curtis and Robin Rayburn of Slaughter and Malcolm Rayburn of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren, Malcolm Rayburn Jr., Lane Rayburn, Megan Rayburn and Brooklyn Squiers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Emma Landrum Rayburn; son, Bertis Rayburn Jr.; grandson, Curtis Rayburn; sister, Anita Blake; and brother, Albert Rayburn Jr.
