Funeral Services For Mrs. Bessie Rolen Held Tuesday
Bessie Jeter Rolen, 85, died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 1965 in a
Winnfield nursing home after a brief illness. She was the widow of Sam Rolen.
She was a native of Winn Parish and was a member of Laurel Heights Baptist
Church.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in New Hope Methodist Church
with Rev. George Ross officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery near
Winnfield under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
She is survived by a son, Ivy Roley of Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. Jesse
Austin, Mrs. Walter Johnson, and Mrs. Owen Shaw, all of Winnfield, and Mrs.
Herschel Shaw of Shreveport; a brother, Frank Jeter of Dodson; two sisters,
Mrs. Emma Harvey of Dodson and Mrs. Sallie Spillers of Tioga; 23 grandchildren
and 23 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
