Bettie Jean Heathcock

CORINTH -- Bettie Jean Heathcock, 73, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at her home. A native of Jacksonville, Ala., she was born Feb. 22, 1931, to Leilus James Young and Lillie Belle Hayes Young.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at K.L. Brown Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ala. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, LTC Robert Bruce Heathcock and wife, Karen, of Arlington, Va.; a daughter, Patricia Ann Heathcock Asbill and husband, David, of Corinth; grandchildren, Case and Tyler Asbill of Corinth, Robert A. Heathcock of Port St. Joe, Fla., and Jim Heathcock of Arlington, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, retired U.S. Army Col. James T. Heathcock; her parents; a brother, Leilus Jackson Young; her in-laws, John Herman Heathcock and Fallie Mae Ford Heathcock; and a brother-in-law, William F. Heathcock.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at K.L. Brown Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ala.

HEATHCOCK

Services for Bettie Jean Young Heathcock, 73, of Mexico Beach, Fla., formerly of Calhoun County, were at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center chapel with Dr. Bob Ford officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Heathcock died Oct. 4 in Corinth, Miss.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Heathcock and David Steven Asbill of Corinth; a son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Robert Bruce and Karen Ann Heathcock of Arlington, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Hobbs Young of Alexandria and Gwynn Odette Heathcock of Fayetteville, Ga.; a brother-in-law, John Herman Heathcock Jr., and his wife, Janice Carol Heathcock, of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren, Graham Case Asbill, Tyler Heath Asbill, Robert Anthony Heathcock and James Darrell Heathcock.

Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Mrs. Heathcock was a Baptist. She was a member and officer of several organizations, including the National Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mexico Beach Volunteer Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. James T. Heathcock (ret.); a brother, Leilus Jackson Young; her parents-in-law, John Herman and Fallie Mae Heathcock and a brother-in-law, William F. Heathcock.
