Betty Hailes

Raymond -- Betty Jean Baskin Hailes, 86, went to be with her Savior on November 25, 2012, at Clinton Healthcare after an extended illness.

Born in Schlater Mississippi on October 6, 1926 to Mamie and Eston Cain Baskin, she moved to Jackson at an early age and graduated from Central High School. She retired from the University of Mississippi Medical Center Budget Office in 1992.With a warm smile and an infectious laugh, Mrs. Hailes was a delight to all who knew her. Her faith and her strength were an inspiration to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and socializing with friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward G. Hailes, and her grandson, John Christopher Cottrell.

She is survived by her brother, E.C. “Sonny” Baskin (Anne), niece, Johanna “Cissy” Baskin, son, John W. Cottrell, daughter, Ann C. Easterwood (James), son, Clay Hailes, granddaughter, Tara Easterwood, and great grandson, Dylan Cottrell, sisters-in-law, Peggy Pickel and Pat Wilson, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Clinton Healthcare for their kind and compassionate care.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, November 27 at Lakewood Funeral Home in Clinton and services will be Wednesday, November 28 at Hinds Independent Methodist Church in Raymond with visitation at 10:00-11:00 followed by the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hinds Independent Methodist Church at 14938 Old Port Gibson Road, Raymond, MS 39154.
