Betty McCarty

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Betty McCarty, 75, of Clayton, who died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mrs. McCarty was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Grayson, La.

She was a homemaker and a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church in Grayson.

Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her husband, D. J. McCarty; her father, Mr. Whittington; her mother, Ruby Dunn.

Survivors include four sons, Charles W. McCarty and George E. McCarty, both of Denham Springs, Jimmy O. McCarty of Ridgecrest and Randy McCarty of Clayton; one daughter, Brenda Nicholson of Seneca, S.C.; two sisters, Patricia Barnhill of Grayson and Peggy Schultz of Urania; one brother, John Lee Williams; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blaney, Bryan Diez, Jeff Higdon, Eric McCarty, Mark McCarty and Jason Nicholson.

The family requests memorials be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
