Mrs. C. M. McCarty

After an illness lasting two years, and enduring much physical suffering, Mrs. Charles M. McCarty, died at the family home on north First avenue here, Saturday night. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon followed by an interment in Highland cemetery, conducted by Rev. Herman Jones. Mrs. McCarty was taken ill two years ago, and a little more. Operation after operation, brought only temporary relief from suffering and the limit of human endurance soon came ending in death last Saturday.

Beulah Graham was born in Abbeysville, Miss., December 4, 1863 and in 1879 married Charles M. McCarty. To this union were born four daughters all of whom with her husband survive her, as follows: Mrs. A. S. Hagood, Mrs. Margaret McBee and Mrs. Walter Turnbull of Durant, and Miss MaBelle also of Durant.

The family has lived in Durant since 1894 and has, as it were grown up with the community and been active in its development. Early in life Mrs. McCarty became a member of the Presbyterian church and for years, until taken ill, was active in church work.

In the home, in the church, among her neighbors and friends, Mrs. McCarty lived the beautiful example of that sweet Christian mother, such as keep the world good and make people better. She loved her church and its work, was a companion to her family as well as mother, and among others was a beautiful example of Christian character.
