Services for Beulah W. Blackwell, age 97 of Hebert will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2005 from the Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jack McKeithen and Rev. Don Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Hebert.

Mrs. Blackwell was born on June 4, 1907 in Clarks, LA, to the union of Johnnie and Minnie Mckeithen Whittington and died Friday, May 20, 2005 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. She had been a resident of the Haven Nursing Center for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J. D. Blackwell, Sr., and her daughter, Olean B. Kelly.

Survivors include her son: J. D. Blackwell, Jr. and his wife: Margaret of Downsville; her daughters and sons-in-law: Alma Maxwell and Wayne Berthlot of Geismar, Mackie and Willie Duchesne of Hebert and Joy and Carey Etier of Hebert; sixteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve Blackwell, Timmie Blackwell, Scott Maxwell, Jeff Duchesne, Kevin Murphy and Bobby Blackwell.

Honorary pallbearers are Diece Kelly, Carey Etier, Willie Duchesne, Wayne Berthelot and Sheriff Steve May.
