Beverly J. Boyett
Beverly J. Boyett, 71, of Sioux City, beloved mother and grandmother, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kristine Frank of Crescent Park United Methodist Church and the Rev. Glenn Houts, hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Boyett was born June 13, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clarence and Leah (Romaine) Ricard. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She graduated from Central High School in 1948.
She married James A. Boyett on Aug. 24, 1949, in Sioux City. He died May 31, 1987, in Sioux City. She was employed with Gateway for five years.
She received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Rotary Club for her volunteer work with Meals-On-Wheels. She was very active at Crescent Park United Methodist Park Church, where she had served as president of the church circle. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Silver Chapter 548 and Hathor Temple 38 of the Daughters of the Nile. She served as a former president of St. Luke's Auxiliary, a member of Crescent Park School PTA and president of Girl Scouts. She was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She also did volunteer work for the Democratic Party.
Survivors include two daughters, Renne Weisser and her husband, Bob of Fort Collins, Colo., and Michele Haberer of Sioux City; a sister, Marsha Chapman of Sergeant Bluff; and five grandchildren, Kaitlin and Robbie Weisser, Angela, Molly and Aaron Haberer.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jim Ricard; and a daughter, Susan Ann Boyett.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Crescent Park United Methodist Church.
