S/Sgt. Bill Stark recently spent a thirty-day furlough with Mrs. Stark, the former Nell Robinson of Downsville. For the past year he has been stationed with the Ninth air force in England as an engineer-gunner. He has been cited for devotion to duty, technical skill, and extraordinary achievement on fifty-one missions over enemy-occupied territory. He was wounded twice and wears the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters.
At an early date, Staff Sergeant Stark will return to England for active duty.
