In the spring of 1958 Billie began to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and on October 4, 1958 she dedicated her life while attending an assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sulphur. On December 12, 1959 Robert Hayes married Billie and the two of them along with her four children settled in the Bunkie area. Bob and Billie added two additional children to their family by 1968. By 1984 she volunteered to devote nearly 100 hours per month to this ministry, an activity she continued right to the end. In addition to regularly teaching God's word she likewise volunteered her time to assist building Kingdom Halls, houses of worship for fellow servants of Jehovah.
