BILLIE GARDNER

WAYNESBORO, Miss. -- Billie Gardner, 65, retired automobile service manager of Waynesboro, died at Wayne General Hospital early Tuesday morning, after a long illness.

Services will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. from Calvary Baptist Church, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Jerry Henderson, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Waynesboro Cemetery under the direction of Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro.

Gardner was a native of Waynesboro where he had lived all of his life. He was a son of the late William H. and Ida Busby Gardner, members of pioneer families of Wayne County. Gardner had served for a number of years as service manager of Cooley Motor Company of Waynesboro. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of which he had served as a deacon. He was also a former member of the Waynesboro Lions Club.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Lucille Walker Gardner, Waynesboro; two sons, Donald R. Gardner, Chickasaw, Ala.; and Rex Gardner of Waynesboro; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Tatum, Waynesboro; and Mrs. L. R. Riley [sic Reddock], Morgan City, La.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Gardner and Ulmer Gardner, both of Waynesboro; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Jordan of Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. Ann West and Miss Cammie Gardner, both of Hattiesburg.
