VIDALIA, La. -- Funeral services for Billie Jane Maples, 55, of Vidalia, will be held at Young's Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Tuesday with Brother Bart Walker officiating.
Interment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
Billie died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was a manager of the Vidalia High School cafeteria and a member of Vidalia First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Kirk Wilkes Sr., and her mother, Dorothy Faye Wilkes.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Maples; one son, Marvin R. Maples, and his wife, Catherine, both of Natchez; two daughters, Glynda Faye Wallace of Vidalia and Lynda Gayle Stone of Ridgecrest; two brothers, William Kirk Wilkes of Little Rock, Ark., and Richard Adam Wilkes of Church Hill; one sister, Pamela Wilkes Merriett of Vidalia; and seven grandchildren, Jimmy Dale Stone, William Russell Stone, Elizabeth Jane Wallace, Pamela Victoria Wallace, Daniel Adam Holmes, Miranda Ann Maples and Amanda Jane Maples.
She was a hard-working and loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend. She helped raise her sister and brothers. She is loved and missed by everyone.
After a hard battle with cancer, she went on to be with the Lord.
Pallbearers will be William Stone, Jimmy Stone, Tommy Loyed, Huey Stone, Joel McCaskill and David Merriett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Lane Merriett Jr. and Robert Atwood.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from noon until service time Tuesday.
