Services for Billy R. Ainsworth will be held Wednesday October 01, 2014 1:00 PM at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Mr. Ainsworth, age 76 died on Saturday September 27, 2014 at his residence of heart failure

He was born on October 22, 1937 in Grenada, MS to Cleo Ainsworth and Inez Cutts Emmons. He was a graduate of Holcomb High school and attended Greenwood Public Schools. He was a retired Transmission Mechanic and was considered by the public as one of the best in the country. He was an avid race car enthusiast and known throughout the south. He built racing engines and held several state titles in dirt track stockcar racing.

He was a member of Christ Baptist Church, and is preceded in death by Step parents Archie Emmons and Matha Ainsworth.

He is survived by Wife, of 52 years, Sharian Ainsworth of Greenwood, MS, two Sons, Cale (Sydney Anne) Ainsworth of Greenwood, MS, and Tommy Ainsworth of Greenwood, MS, a Sister, Audine Everett of Teoc, MS, two grandchildren, Jacob Ainsworth, Daniel Ainsworth, and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 01, 2014 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Jordan, Bo Black, Mark Boggan, Steven Everett, Jacob Ainsworth, and Daniel Ainsworth. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr Walter Moses and staff, and his friends in the racing community.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.
