Mr. Billy S. Carson

Funeral service for Mr. Billy S. Carson will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with Dr. Lee Weems and Rev. David Plunkett officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Pineville.

Mr. Carson, 77, of Alexandria, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 in Dubois Hospital of Alexandria.

Mr. Carson was a loving, caring husband and father. He was a member and a deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a past master of Curtis T. Hines, Lodge #317 in Tioga and was a graduate of Northwestern State University in biology. He was a microbiologist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Mr. Carson was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley and Katie Shively Carson; and sister, Mary Glynn Gagneaux.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Orpha Lou Carson of Alexandria; his daughter, Dr. Katherine Carson Nugent of North Augusta, S.C.; his sons, Billy S. Carson, Jr. of Reddell and Edward K. Carson of Springfield, Mo.; his brother, Guy Benson Carson of California; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
