Funeral Services for Mr. Billy George Emmons, 79 of Carthage will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Buddy Reneau and Rev. John Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in the Waldrop Cemetery in the Fairplay Community of Panola County, Texas.
Family visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday night October 14, 2010 at the funeral home. Mr. Emmons died Monday, October 11, 2010.
Mr. Billy George Emmons was born July 2, 1931 in the Fairplay Community of Panola County, Texas. He was one of six children born to the marriage of Virgil Haywood and Myrtle Eleanor Scarbrough Emmons. He completed rural Fairplay schools and spent his life in the oilfield as a pipeliner. Billy George was a non-denominational man of God. He loved to sing and play guitar and share the word of God with others. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Johnny Emmons and three grandchildren, Amanda Joe Emmons, Jimmy and Michael Cotton.
He is survived by his seven children, Billy Hill Emmons and wife Kim of Carthage, Kathy Mae Gooch and husband Dean of Henderson, Billie Sue Emmons Kroh and husband David of Laneville, Virgil Lynn Emmons and wife Malinda of Henderson, Johnny Ray Emmons and wife Debra of Carthage, Sammy Emmons and wife Holly of Pine Hill and Rebecca Denise Emmons of Pine Hill, sisters, Nelva Jean Wallace of Henderson, Jo Nell LaGrone of Deadwood, Juanita Dean LaGrone of Deadwood and Mary Joyce Mixon of Huxley, 36 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Cotton, Jackie Don Brown, Randy LaGrone, Dale LaGrone, Henry William Falk, David LaGrone, Stephen Staneart and D.J. Ihlenfeldt, serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Roy Gene LaGrone, David Kroh, Dean Gooch, Jerry Bailey, Brandon Bing, Joe Brevard, Jr., Joe Brevard, Sr., Junior Sinclair, Steve W. Grimes.
