Bobbie Joe Smith

Bobbie Joe Smith, 41, a captain of the Bossier City Police Department's Juvenile Division, died suddenly Sunday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bossier City General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at the Boone Funeral Home's Bossier City Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. W. D. Stogner, executive secretary of the Northwest Louisiana Baptist Association, officiating. Burial will be at Hill Crest Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Ford of Bossier City; one son, Steven and one step-son, Alan, both of Bossier City, one step-daughter, Mrs. Delores Arnold, of Shreveport; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be L. J. Bass, Mayou James Cathey, J. W. Slack, Police Chief Billy Thornton, Alan L. Austin and B. J. McHalffey.

Capt. Smith was a member of the Waller Baptist Church, president of the Louisiana Juvenile Association, member of the Municipal Police Officers Association and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had worked with the Bossier City Police Department for 16 years.
