BOBBY EUGENE WHITTINGTON
GLOSTER -- Services for Bobby Eugene Whittington will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Burnette Carraway, Gary Bowlin and Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Whittington, 50, of Gloster, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans. Mr. Whittington was the Superintendent of Education for Amite County. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and a master mason of the Gloster Lodge 399. He was also a member of the Mississippi Association of School Administrators and the Southwest Community College Board.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Rollins Whittington, a son, Brad Whittington and a daughter, Alicia Whittington, all of Gloster; two sisters, Faye Harper and her husband, Talmadge, of Meridian, and Sandra Byrd and her husband, Shorty, of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Kenny Whittington of Philadelphia and Douglas Whittington of Vicksburg; his stepfather, William Jackson of Meridian; his stepmother, Dorothy Whittington of Vicksburg; two uncles, Wendell Whittington and Otis Whittington; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Patricia Foreman of Gloster; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Reggie and Carolyn Rollins of Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Menton Whittington and Stella Fulton Whittington Jackson.
Pallbearers will be David Dixon, Dennis Whittington, Glen Whittington, Daniel Whittington, Mike Foreman, Bruce McLean, Scottie Whittington and Charlie Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Buskirk and John Steele.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church.
