SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Lt. Colonel Bobby Joe King, Sr., U. S. Army, Retired, 77, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Green, pastor of First Baptist Church of Greenwood, LA. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery with full military graveside honors.

Mr. King was born September 10, 1923 in New Orleans, LA and was a 23 year resident of Greenwood, LA. He passed away Sunday, November 12, 2000 in Bossier City, LA. Mr. King retired after 33 years with SWEPCO in Marketing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood, LA where he served on the Building, Finance, and Maintenance committees. Mr. King was also a member of the Greenwood Pioneer Club, the Greenwood Metropolitan Planning Commission, the NSU Alumni Association, treasurer of the Greenwood Historical Society, and a lifetime member of the Breakfast Optimist Club. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cozzie and Gladys Ricketts King and a grandson, Eric John King.

Mr. King is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glen Prince King of Greenwood, LA; two sons, Bobby Joe King, Jr. and wife, Donna of Kingwood, TX and John Belton King and wife, Susan of Bossier City, LA; daughter, Jan King McKinnon and husband, Billy Wayne of Greenwood, LA; grandchildren, Chad Leeper and Jenny Leeper, Brandi McKinnon, Lisa King, Adam King, and Sara King, and Kristi King Maynor and husband, Scott.

Pallbearers will be Chad Leeper, Adam King, Scott Maynor, Harlan Beene, Jr., John C. Prince, Jr., and Jack Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Logue, Anis Bell, Owen Adams and J. D. Stevens.

The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Greenwood, LA Building Fund.
