Bonnie C. Coleman
Bonnie Crum Coleman, 88, of Magnolia, died of cancer Nov. 12, 1998, at Inglewood Manor in Jackson.
Visitation if 4-8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home, and resumes at noon Saturday at Magnolia United Methodist Church until services there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Nancy Bishop and M.L. McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.
Mrs. Coleman was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Amite County. She was the daughter of Henry Ivy Crum and Nellie Rainer Crum.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Magnolia, Fernwood, Osyka, Moss Point, Kentwood, La., and Franklin, La.
She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church for 50 years. Her family said she was a devoted Sunday school teacher who taught in all departments.
She was a member [of] the 20th Century Club, the Magnolia Garden Club, Order of the Eastern Star, VIP Club and United Methodist Women. She attended Whitworth College in Brookhaven and Louisiana State University. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was the Enterprise-Journal's Mother of the Year in 1990.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Joseph Coleman.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Aldine Tucker Gordon and Edward Gordon of Jackson, and Bonnie Jean Coleman Moutan of Dallas; one brother, Paul Crum of Houma, La; three grandchildren, Stacey Gordon Davis and Stephanie Gordon Robertson, both of Jackson, and Catherine Elizabeth Moutan of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Gordon Davis and Ivy Lee Robertson, both of Jackson; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Magnolia United Methodist Church.
