Rev. Bonnie Moore
BLOOMINGTON -- The Rev. Bonnie ``Barney'' Lee Moore, 83, of 1232 Dogwood Lane, Bloomington, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003) at ManorCare in Normal.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Towanda. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Manlius Baptist Church Cemetery in Manlius. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Towanda or to the local chapter of Special Olympics.
The Rev. Moore was born March 4, 1919, in Willow, Okla., to William Richard and Rosie Lee Rimmer Moore. He married Velma Mary Estill on Nov. 26, 1942, at the First Baptist Church in Momence. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry (Beth) Moore, Elgin, and Randy (Connie) Moore, Howard City, Mich.; one daughter, Janet (Terry) Huff, Bloomington; six grandchildren, Joy (Tommy) Pfister; Tyler Huff; and Sarah, Shawn, Scot and Stanley Moore; one great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Livingston, Oklahoma, and Willa Ruth, Arkansas; and one brother, Ralph Moore, Mesa, Ariz.
One son, Gary Moore; five sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
The Rev. Moore was ordained in 1946, in Phoenix, Ariz., where he continued to pastor. He later was the pastor of several churches in Ohio and Illinois. He last was the pastor at the First Baptist Church of Towanda for nine years. He retired in 1998.
He was a founding member of the Gateway Center in Princeton.
He was an avid reader.
