BOYCE ALTON KIRKSEY
Boyce “Kirk” Kirksey, 90, of Modesto, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Alexander Cohen Hospice House.
Kirk was born in Eli [sic Ely], Nevada to Roy Roscoe and Ruth Kirksey, one of their six children. While in the Navy, Kirk met and Married his wife of 70 years, Bette Jane Buss, on July 2, 1944. In 1951 he started working for the California Department of Highways and they settled on a small farm in Modesto. Kirk retired in 1980 to work the farm and pursue his hobbies and social activities, which included square dancing, camping, fishing and lapidary.
Kirk is survived by his wife Bette, sons, Torry (Vicki) Kirksey and Randy Kirksey, grandchildren, Amber (William) Breazeale, Cort (Tammy) Kirksey, Coby (Stephanie) Kirksey and Jacob Kirksey, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Kirksey, siblings, Hazel Merchant, Helen Winters, Roy W. Kirksey and Paul Kirksey.
Kirk was part of the “Greatest Generation” and will be missed by his family and wide circle of friends.
There will be no memorial service and in lieu of flowers the family would like donations made in honor of Boyce “Kirk” Kirksey to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto.
