Brown George Turnipseed Jr.

Brown George Turnipseed Jr. died Monday, May 10, 2010, at age 66.

He was born in Baton Rouge and had resided in New Orleans since 2002. George graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1961, received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics from LSU in 1966, and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He served as first lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 after ROTC at LSU. He worked for Olin Corp. for 22 years in marketing management. George was a member of the Faubourg Marigny Association since his move to the area and served on the board.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanne Fayard Turnipseed; children, Paul Clade Turnipseed, Leslie Jane Turnipseed and Amy Lynn Turnipseed; son-in-law, Richard Hulett; grandchildren, Ava Pilar and Harlan Clay Hulett; sister, Betty Turnipseed Moore; and brother, Dr. William Roland Turnipseed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane Gleason Turnipseed and Brown George Turnipseed Sr.

A memorial funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 411 North Rampart St., New Orleans, on Saturday, May 15.
