Callie Joe Riley

DEBARY -- Callie Joe Riley, 81, of Glen Abbey Lane, who retired in 1969 as an Army chief warrant officer after 30 years of service, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Born in West Blocton, Ala., Mr. Riley came to this area in 1986 from Clearwater. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he started in the ``Horse Cavalry'' in 1939 and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth; a son, James, DeLand; three daughters, Judi Lemr, Ocala; and Libby Burch and Darlene Broderick, both of Seminole; a sister, Julia Burtram, Decatur, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.
