Cardillia Inez Franklin Sanders
Nov. 24, 1923 - Aug. 13, 2011

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend Cardillia Franklin Sanders passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, after 87 wonderful years of life.

She was born November 24, 1923 in Heidenhaimer, Texas to Charles and Audie Franklin. Her childhood years were spent in Texas, she was a true Southern Belle. Destiny brought Cardillia and Preal (Bob) together during World War II, they were married May 8, 1943. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Cardillia held many positions in the LDS church, her favorite position was working with the youth. Cardillia and Bob spent 62 years together. Bob preceded her in death in 2006.

Mom loved to travel. She and dad visited all 50 states. They enjoyed their winter home in Yucca, Arizona and their summer home in Ogden. Cardillia was a very gifted artist, she loved to oil paint, She shared her talent with all her children by giving them each a beautiful painting. She also was a talented seamstress; sewing school clothes and prom dresses for her daughters. Later she retired from the Ogden City School District Lunch Program.

Cardillia is survived by her children: Brenda and Steve Sherwood, Kathy and Brent Adams, Marilyn and Kevin Bigham, Carolyn Sweitzer, Fred Sweitzer, Starr and Kerry Finch, daughter-in-law, Mary Sanders, step-children, Al and Janice Sanders, Rita Moore and Ray Moore (deceased), and brother, Willie T. Franklin.

Preceded in death by her husband Preal (Bob) Sanders, son, Larry Sanders, parents, brother and sister.

Cardillia will continue to live on through her children, many grandchildren and multitudes of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home for their love and excellent care of our Queen Bee. Mom loved you all. We would also like to thank Bristol Hospice staff for their loving care especially Belinda, Autumn and Vladimer.
