CARL A. BYARS

Mr. CARL A. BYARS, 83, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, Jan. 21, 2001.
Carl was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Woodberry, Ark., son of Rev. William Alfred and Docia Dunn Byars. He was united to Virginia Dean on March 25, 1945, in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was active lifelong in church service, serving as a deacon in the Baptist church for many years. He was one of the original founders of the Leawood Baptist Church in Kansas City in 1960. Carl enjoyed coaching little league baseball and basketball for his children and friends. Carl worked for International Paper for 45 years. Carl was a veteran of WWII, serving in Egypt and India.
One brother, Cecil Byars, preceded Carl in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia; two sons, David, and wife Janet, and their two children, Ryan and Ashley of Kansas City, Russell and his wife, Julie, and their son, Guy, of Little Rock; daughter Debbie Montrone, her husband, Ken, and their three children, Sarah, Joel and Michael of Kaneoe, Hawaii; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at noon Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Little Rock's First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, with Dr. John Wright and Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.
