Carl Burwell Humphries, Sr.

Services for Mr. Carl Burwell Humphries, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pineville. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Pineville.

Mr. Humphries, age 85, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2004 in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.

He was born May 9, 1919 in Camden, South Carolina. He joined the U.S. Army in 1939 and served for six years including overseas duty during WWII. He received an honorable discharge from the military when the war was over. He lived the remainder of his life in Pineville, Louisiana. He worked as a skilled carpenter and was a union member for many years. He took part in the construction of many landmark structures in the Pineville/Alexandria area, ultimately retiring at the age of 70.

His wife of 57 years, Donnis Elaine Humphries and three brothers precede him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Carl B. Humphries, Jr. and John R. Humphries, M.D. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 12 p.m. until shortly before time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
