BENTON -- Carl B. Speer Jr., 62, of Benton, who also maintains a home in Pine Bluff, died here Tuesday.
He was a retired engineer for Cotton Belt Railroad.
Born October 9, 1924, at Tinsman (Calhoun County), he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Speer Sr. of Tinsman.
He had served in the armed forces during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church at Tinsman.
Other survivors include two sons, Sam Speer of Mountain Home and Doug Speer of Alexander; a daughter, Janet Johnston of Apopka, Florida; two sisters, Martha S. Rogers of Sherwood and Joan Bryant of Benton; and six grandchildren.
His funeral was to be at 2 p.m. today at Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Hampton, with Reverend Dale Gentry and Reverend Garland Skidmore officiating. Burial was to be in Campground Cemetery by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
