Carl Henry Giles
Carl Henry (Hank) Giles, 67, of Pine Ridge, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 16, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 23, 1942 to Carl Henry Giles, Sr. and Dorothy Wright Giles and lived most of his life in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University and was instrumental in setting up the initial computer systems for Western Electric's pilot plant in Shreveport in the 1960's. He later moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area where he worked for many years as a computer systems consultant. He spent his retirement years on the shores of Toledo Bend Lake near Huxley, Texas, until his health failed and he moved to Arkansas to be near his daughters. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his later years, he took pleasure from simply sitting on the porch with his dog Beau and looking out over the lake.
Mr. Giles was predeceased by his father, Carl Henry Giles, Sr.; his mother, Dorothy Wright Giles Tully; and his stepfather, Laurie G. Tully.
He is survived by two daughters, Laura Giles Alexander and Debra Giles Hicks, both of Pine Ridge; four grandchildren: Branson Byers of Cleburne, Texas, Lyndi Everitt of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mark Oliver and Robert Oliver, both of Pine Ridge; a sister, Carolyn GilesTilburg of New York; an aunt, Betty Wright White of Huxley, Texas; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many friends.
Mr. Giles was sent for cremation, and in accordance with his wishes, there will be only a small private service at a later date.
The family takes this opportunity to express gratitude for the expert loving care shown to Mr. Giles by Mena Regional Hospice, especially Cindy, Elise, Keith, Phyllis, Lindsey and Pam; and to Dr. Patrick Fox for the compassionate management of all his health needs.
Arrangements were handled by the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
