Carl Duff Funeral Services Held Saturday

Carl Milton Duff, 80, died Friday morning at Marion County General Hospital, where he had been admitted as a patient after suffering a stroke at his home late Friday afternoon.

Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Reo Grover conducting the services assisted by Elder Otis Spiers. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Duff was the son of James Walter Duff and Lucy Jane McDaniel Duff, born Feb. 5, 1893, in Scott county. He had resided in Columbia for some years, then moved to Covington county, and returned here to make his home in 1938. He had been engaged in business in Columbia and later confined his activities to contracting until his retirement.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having been ordained a high priest.

During World War I he served overseas in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and D.A.V.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lela Harvey Duff; two sons, Melvin Radelle Duff and Ernest Ray Duff, both of Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Janie Duff Cochran and Mrs. Georgia Duff Harrington, both of Columbia; two brothers, Lewis Duff of Columbia and John Duff of Laurel; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Duff Duckworth of Columbia, Mrs. Daisy Duff Dees of Biloxi, and Mrs. Winnie Duff King of Mt. Olive; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were an infant son, Leo, and an infant granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Edwin H. White, Lavelle Hollingsworth, Price McWhorter, Jeffrey McWhorter, Richmond McGee, and Dean Griner.
