Carol Jean Herrington, 73, of Sandersville, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Sandersville Baptist Church with Revs. Tim Sanford and James Ray Herrington officiating. Burial will be at Sandersville Cemetery in Jones County. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Carol Jean was an active member of Sandersville Baptist Church. She sang in both the Silver Liners and Sanctuary Choirs. Carol loved to laugh, cook and spend time with her family. She was and will always be affectionately known as Nanny.
She retired from A&P Grocery upon its closing in Laurel.
She was preceded in death by son, Billy Joe Herrington.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jimmy Herrington of Sandersville; sons, James Ray and wife Doris of Mexia, Texas, Andy and wife Cindy of Laurel, and William Joseph, Jr. of Sandersville; five grandchildren, William of Jackson, James, Jr. (J. J.) of Atlanta, Ga., Kimberly of Sandersville, Valarie Latham and husband Mike of Minden, La., Ollie and wife Nikki of Laurel; seven great-grandchildren, Isaac and Andrew Herrington of Laurel, Shepard, Hannah, Ellison and Abigail Latham of Minden, La., and Heather of Texas.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Johnson, Brian Martin, Buzz Jack, J. J. Herrington, Ollie Herrington and Bob White.
