BAILEY, CAROLYN MARIE WARD

Carolyn Marie Ward Bailey, a retired teacher with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 66 and a native of George County, Miss.

Arrangements entrusted to Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Visiting on Thursday at Foster Road Baptist Church, 11333 Foster Road, until religious service, conducted by the Rev. Huey Moak and the Rev. Danny Miller. Burial in Blackwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Donald Minchew, Clarksville, Tenn., and Christie Lynn Bailey, Baton Rouge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond W. and Glenn Ward, Lucedale, Miss., and Hollis E. “Ed” and Gloria Ward, Mobile, Ala.; future granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Minchew; special friend, Walter Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Kenneth A. Bailey; parents, Hollis Lee and Priscilla Hulett Ward; sister, Vivian Ward Breland; and her daughter's fiancé, Tommy Ramirez.

She was a member of Foster Road Baptist Church, the Joy Club and enjoyed attending C.C.C. at Parkview Baptist Church. She was a very talented ceramic artist and loved to travel.

The family would like to thank special friends Jamie McAllister, Terry Bamburg, Willie Mae Wascome, Beverly Lazard, Dr. Jay Brooks and the staff at St. Joseph Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
