Mrs. T. M. Hyde, 72, Fatally Injured And Six Hurt In Crash At Garven's Store Friday Night
A highway collision of two automobiles in front of Garven's Store between Rock Springs and Mountain Home Friday night claimed the life of Mrs. T. M. Hyde, 72, prominent Divide ranch woman, and sent six other persons to the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital with injuries.
Injured were Mrs. Hyde's daughter, Mrs. Ervin Ahrens of Kerrville and the three Ahrens children. Injured in the other car involved in the accident, were Johnny Juensky of Odessa, and a passenger, Billy McSwain, a Marine from Camp Pendleton, Calif.
McSwain was transferred to the Veterans Administration Hospital at Legion Saturday morning for continued treatment to his injuries.
The accident occurred in the early darkness as the automobile carrying Mrs. Hyde and the Ahrens family pulled across the highway from Garven's Store towards a community gathering. Mack Hyde, who had been a passenger in the ill-fated car a few moments before, escaped injury when he decided to walk to the assembly grounds from the store where they had stopped briefly.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, and burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery near Mountain Home. Time of the rites are pending contact with a sister who is visiting in Montana.
