Catherine Emmons Harris

Catherine Emmons Harris, 90, of Grenada, died Tuesday, June 8, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at National Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, at National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.

Catherine was born on Aug. 13, 1919, in Carroll County, Mississippi, to Tillman and Mary Elizabeth Emmons. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Catherine and her late husband, Sammie, were the owners of Harris Grocery Store.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Tillman and Mary Emmons; and by her husband, Sammie Harris Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Hood (Dale) and Sandra Minga (Larry) all of Grenada; one sister, Mary Josephine Turner of Grenada; four grandchildren, Todd Hood of Grenada, Steve Hood of Birmingham, Ala., Michael Minga of Atlanta, Ga., and Amy Kirk of Grenada; and five great-grandchildren, Emma Kirk, Caroline Kirk, and Ava Kirk, all of Grenada, and Austin Hood and Hunter Hood, both of Birmingham.

National Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
