Death Takes Ex-Queen, Days Of '47
Mrs. Catherine Sara Harper Grant, 34, 2842 Sherwood Dr. (1323 South), 1954 Days of '47 queen, died of cancer Sunday at 7:18 p.m. at her home.
Mrs. Grant was a graduate of the University of Utah and West High School. She was a member of Lambda Delta Sigma, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints religious fraternity, and Tau Kappa Alpha debating fraternity.
A member of the Tabernacle Choir for 10 years, she was also affiliated with the Salt Lake Board of Realtors and was a guide at the Beehive House. She was Golden Gleaner in the LDS Mutual Improvement Assn.
Born in Salt Lake City, Dec. 5, 1931, she was a daughter of Horace V. and Iona Biddinger Harper. She was married to Richard Gibbs Grant, Aug. 26, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survivors include her husband; a son and two daughters, Deborah Iona, Elizabeth Ellen, and Richard G., Jr., a stepfather, Floyd G. Harper; sisters, Mary C. Harper, and R. Jean Harper, al[l of] Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday noon in the Monument Park Fifteenth LDS Ward Chapel, 1320 S. Wasatch Dr. Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple, Tuesday from 6 until 9 p.m., and Wednesday at the ward chapel one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park.
