Charles Messner
March 17, 1934 - February 11, 2008

Charles D. Messner, 74, passed away peacefully Monday, February 11, 2008. A long time resident of Copley, OH, he excelled at Track and Football and graduated in 1951 from Copley High School. Chuck built many homes in the Akron area and was a member of Carpenters Local #639. He was a member of the Goodyear archery club and served many years as an officer. An avid hunter and fisherman, his travels took him all over the country and to several Canadian provinces. He was also a member of the Pro Bass Organization while competing in many fishing tournaments. A staff sergeant in the marines, Chuck saw occupational duty in Japan during the Korean War and served 4 years.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Bessie Messner and eleven of his twelve siblings.

He is survived by his former wife and good friend Tana Messner nee Manley; sons Charles and William and grandson Matthew.

Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Rd. at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 with a Memorial Service to immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Becki Verbridge officiating. Interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with a military service at 12:30pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2008.
