Services Today

OZONA -- Services for Charles D. ``Jack'' Hyde, 63, of Ozona, who died Monday at his residence, were to be held today at 10 a.m. at the Ozona First Baptist Church.

Burial was to follow at 4 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Born May 28, 1929 in Junction, Mr. Hyde was raised on the Y.O. Ranch near Kerrville, where his father, Clarence Hyde, was ranch manager for 38 years. When his father retired Jack took over for the next four years. Hyde left the Y.O. and ranched in several places, including Johnson City and Raymonville, before returning to Kerrville to enter into law enforcement. In 1964 Hyde and family moved to Ozona where he was a deputy sheriff for Crockett County for many years. He opened Jack's TV and Radio in September 1971. Hyde retired in 1988 and sold his TV repair business.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Hyde of Ozona; three daughters and their spouses, Mary Jo and Mike Jernigan of Iraan, Ann Giardini of Fort Stockton, and Jackie and John Edwards of Stephenville; two aunts and an uncle, Nona and Ralph Bulkey of Junction and Dorothy Hardy of Ingram; six grandchildren; numerous cousins; and a special friend, Elvira Vasquez.

Preddy Funeral Home in Ozuna [sic Ozona] was in charge of arrangements.
