Charles E. “Ed” Chandler, Sr.
(March 18, 1924 - April 6, 2007)

Mr. Charles E. “Ed” Chandler, Sr., age 83 of Calvin, passed away, Friday, April 6, 2007 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield.

Mr. Chandler is a native of Calvin and a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He taught Agriculture in both Atlanta High School and Calvin High School for twenty years and also coached basketball for several years at Atlanta High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calvin.

Mr. Chandler is the son of the late Clarence Nelson Chandler and the late Maude Belle Caskey Chandler. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Martha Sue Lowdermilk Chandler and by a brother Norman Chandler.

He is survived by two sons: Charles E. “Charlie” Chandler, Jr. and his wife Peggy and Donald L. “Donnie” Chandler and his wife Patty all of Winnfield; one daughter: Brenda Sue Chandler Kelley and her husband Don also of Winnfield; seven grandchildren: Trey Chandler, William Chandler, Justin Chandler, Natalie Chandler, Bryan Kelley, Amy Kelley Dantzler, and Matthew Kelley; three great grandchildren: and one brother: Chester L. Chandler of Calvin.

Funeral services for Mr. Chandler will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lamar Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Pall bearers will be: Bryan Kelley, Matthew Kelley, Justin Chandler, Charles E. “Trey” Chandler III, Jamie Dantzler, and William Chandler.
