CHARLES EDWARD TAYLOR

Mr. Taylor, age 83, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died on January 28, 2002. He was a retired career educator, having taught at both the college level and in grades 7-12. For over 22 years, he was employed by Coronado Unified School District, Coronado, California.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903, 471-9900, is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Taylor was born at Hudson, Louisiana, on October 26, 1918, to James and Bettie (Sayes) Taylor, who are deceased. He was married May 31, 1942, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Elaine Ramick, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Patrice Taylor Jacobs; a son, Kent R. and wife, Wendy Taylor Schall, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a son, Timothy C. and wife, Laura Egley Taylor, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jessica, Nick, Reeve, Cody, Shenandoah, Erin and Joe, and a brother, Reverend Virgil Taylor and wife, Beth, of Camden, Arkansas; a brother, Dr. Lloyd Taylor and wife, Betty, of Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Ann Taylor Mayne of Murray, Utah and their families; and a sister-in-law, Nelda R. Sanders of San Diego, California.

Mr. Taylor served in the Eighth Air Force in England during World War II and had 30 B-24 combat missions as a Radar Countermeasures Operator (RCM). He was awarded the Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters. He was also awarded the European Ribbon with 4 battle stars for participating in the war over Europe.

He received bachelor's degrees from Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, Oklahoma, and the University of Oklahoma. His master's degree in History was earned at Boston University.

Mr. Taylor had lived in Colorado Springs since 1989 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Key, 2250 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80904.
