Charles Roberts

Charles Galian Roberts, 78, of Greenville, died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Paul Gould officiating. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery.

Born in Campbell on March 20, 1927, he was the son of Charles B. Roberts and Ida Lavert Brigman Roberts. He married Iva Lee Carter in Campbell on Dec. 24, 1953.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy in World War II, was vice president of Bank One and president of Caddo Mills State Bank and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

He graduated Campbell High School, East Texas State University and the Southern Methodist University School of Banking. He served on the boards of the United Way, Red Cross, Y.M.C.A. and Salvation Army.

He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church Board of Stewards, was Grand Master of the State of Texas International Order of Odd Fellows and was past president of the Kiwanis Club.

His love of Jesus Christ and his family came first in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Iva Lee Roberts; son and daughter-in-law, Randy Lee and Lisa Kay Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Gaye and David Bowman; grandchild, Charlie Roberts; grandchild, Stephanie Roberts; grandchild, Jonathan Bowman; sister, Charlene Kimbell and sister Martha Dyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Dean Roberts; sister-in-law, Rose Roberts and brother-in-law, C. H. Kimbell Jr.

Pallbearers iare Charlie Roberts, Gary Roberts, Landy Roberts, James Neely, David Dyer and Jack Firmin. Honorary pallbearers are the Alpha Class.
