Charles K. ``Ken'' Linder

Services for Mr. Charles K. ``Ken'' Linder of Tyler will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Tyler, with the Rev. B.C. McCoy officiating. Burial is at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at First Baptist Church Parlor.

Mr. Linder passed away Feb. 10, 2009, in Tyler after a lengthy illness. He was 74 years young. Mr. Linder was born in Henderson to the late Frank Hardy and Thelma Coleman Linder. He served in the U.S. Navy. After completing his Navy service, he attended Millsaps College where he married his sweetheart, Jane Pinkston Campbell of Jackson, Miss. Mr. Linder transferred to Mississippi State University, where he received a degree in industrial engineering. He later attended Louisiana State University where he received a degree in petroleum engineering. Ken was an active member of First Baptist Church, Tyler, for over 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jane.

He is survived by his children, Naomi Palmer and husband Danny of Whitehouse, Karen Pitman and husband Brent of Tyler, Hardy Linder of Austin, Kathy Tyler and husband Jason of Bartlesville, Okla.; grandchildren, Shay Stokes and wife Jazmin, Will Palmer, Sarah and Clay Tyler; one great-grandchild, Kiana Claire Stokes; sister, Bobbie Anderson and husband Robert of Jasper, Ga., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Danny Palmer, Brent Pitman, Jason Tyler, Shay Stokes, Will Palmer, David Smith and Jim Gathright.

Charles K. Linder

TYLER, Texas -- Charles K. ``Ken'' Linder, 74, formerly of Natchez, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Tyler, Texas, after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Linder was born in Henderson, Texas, the son of Frank Hardy and Thelma Coleman Linder. He later moved to Natchez with his family, where he graduated from Natchez High School, class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy. After completing his Navy service, he attended Millsaps College where he married Jane Pinkston Campbell of Jackson. Mr. Linder transferred to Mississippi State University where he received a degree in industrial engineering. He later attended Louisiana State University where he received a degree in petroleum engineering.

Mr. Linder was an active member of First Baptist Church in Tyler for over 35 years.

Survivors include four children; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Barbara Linder Anderson and husband, Robert, both of Jasper, Ga.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
